How To Increase Mic Volume – Windows 10

Method 1 – Adjust Microphone Volume

Since not all microphones are configured to 100% output, the first thing you should do for microphone boost is to check the microphone’s output volume.

Method 2- Boost Microphone Levels

Even after setting the microphone volume to 100%, the volume is not boosted, we suggest trying to boost its levels. To do so, follow the steps given below:

1. Make sure the mic is connected.

2. Click the “Sound” icon present in the taskbar.

3. Right-click it > “Open Sound Settings.”

4. Click Device Properties

5. This will open a new window here, click Additional device properties.

6. You will now see a window labeled Microphone Properties. Click on the “Levels” tab.

7. You’ll now see two sliders, one for microphone volume, and one called Microphone Boost.

8. If you follow the first method, properly you should see the microphone’s volume at 100%. (In case it is reduced, use the slider to boost it.)

9. Afterward, use the Microphone Boost slider to increase the volume.

  • In addition to this, double click Sounds, video, and game controllers > select the audio driver > right-click > Update driver.

After updating both the drivers, restart the system and check the microphone volume should now be boosted.

Method 4- Run the Troubleshooter

In some cases, Windows 10 users might not see the Microphone Boost option. If that is the case with you, there’s a way out. Using Troubleshooter, you can try to restore access to the microphone boost options.

But before that try the Windows 10 Audio troubleshooter. This is a built-in troubleshooter offered by Windows 10, using it you can fix various problems.

To run the troubleshooter, follow the steps below:

1. Open Control Panel. Make sure the View by is set to Large icons.

2. Look for the Troubleshooting option.

3. Under the Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio recording and wait for it to identify the problem.
