List of Best Christmas Movies on Netflix
With a few traditional Christmas movies & top holiday releases of 2022, Netflix has a huge selection of movies that are worth watching. Check out our list of the top Christmas movies. We’ve mentioned the links to official trailers, so that you can have a quick preview.
1. Falling for Christmas
Lindsay Lohan’s appearance in a Christmas movie is enough to introduce Falling for Christmas. If that isn’t enticing enough, let’s get to know about the basic storyline – she plays a snobby heiress to her father’s Aspen resort company, has amnesia, and falls in love with a local lodge caretaker (Chord Overstreet). It brilliantly exemplifies why you ought to enjoy a Christmas film for the spectacle (or lack thereof) rather than the tale itself.
2. A Boy Called Christmas
In this origin story of Father Christmas, the early years of Santa Claus are reinvented as a magical tale. Henry Lawfull portrays the character of Nikolas, a youngster who lives in Finland and embarks on a mission to find hope in a sad phase of life. He sets out on an adventurous journey to find his father, who is on an expedition to discover the fabled village of Elfhelm. It’s a goofy but delightful new take on the Christmas story, with Santa transforming into the type of hero who can link up with Harry Potter. This is among the best Christmas movies on Netflix.
3. The Christmas Chronicles
The Christmas Chronicles, starring Kurt Russell can be seen performing an out-of-the-blue role as Santa Claus. The story revolves around two siblings – Kate & Teddy, whose Christmas eve plan is to catch Santa Claus on camera. The movie sends the idea, that sometimes it’s ok to do something mischievous (even illegal) if it’s for a good cause. In this happy, cheerful, and adventure-filled holiday film, the siblings and Santa must work together to save Christmas.
The theme of the sweet romantic drama Holidate revolves around Christmas. Two lifelong singletons (Emma Roberts and Jake Lacey) plan to serve as each other’s “holiday dates” after experiencing awful romantic strain around the holidays. They come up with a no-obligation plan to go on numerous holidays together, but the twist comes, when by Christmas, they fall in love. Roberts and Lacey strike just the perfect blend of skepticism and sentimentality to make the expected romance enjoyable.
5. The Noel Diary
The Noel Diary is a popular drama to watch this holiday season. It’s a tale of a talented author (Jake Turner) who hasn’t been home for almost twenty years, since his mentally ill mother kicked him out of the house when he was just 16. The story begins, when he returns home after his estranged mother passes away. When he goes to her apartment at Christmas time to finalize her inheritance, he discovers a diary that might provide the answers he’s been hunting for his whole life.
6. Single All the Way
The Netflix Christmas movie is about Peter (Michael Urie), who desperately wants to avoid his family’s judgment about his perpetual single status. So, he takes his closest buddy home for Christmas to play the role of his lover & pretend they’re in a relationship. The twist comes when his family intervenes to arrange a marriage and sets him up on a blind date with her handsome trainer James. Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Peter’s Aunt Sandy, takes the spotlight (obviously). This is one of the few good Christmas movies that you should not miss watching this holiday season.
7. A very Murray Christmas
“A Very Murray Christmas”, produced by Sofia Coppola and starring a diverse cast of famous guest stars, is Bill Murray’s rendition of the classic Christmas special. Murray portrays himself stranded at a hotel in New York City while he’s meant to be hosting a holiday special. When the broadcast is ultimately canceled, he mingles with hotel visitors, sings a few songs, and drinks. Murray’s lovable laid-back personality, as well as performances by Chris Rock, Miley Cyrus, George Clooney, Maya Rudolph, and others, carry the plot.
8. Dash & Lily
Dash & Lily is slightly an unpopular title but it has all the feels you will get from all the other Top Christmas movies on Netflix. A perfect rom-com, Dash despises Christmas, but Lily adores it—the two meet via the pages of a red notepad, which they exchange over the holidays as Lily attempts to persuade Dash why Christmas is the best. The two discover more than just a love of the holidays, but also real friendship…and maybe love. This is certainly one of the best Christmas films you will ever come across.
9. Let it Snow
“Let It Snow”, is a charming homage to the ensemble adolescent sitcoms of the 1980s and 1990s with a Christmas flair. The story follows a teenager, Jubliee Dougal who has been forced to spend Christmas Eve with her grandparents. While on the train ride, she runs into rising pop star Stuart Bale. The romantic twist comes when a Christmas Eve snowstorm transforms a small town into a romantic haven. The gorgeous youngsters pair up, split up, makeup, and party down.
