iOS 18 is compatible with iPhones running iOS 17. However, looking at the history of new iOS upgrades, where users encounter unanticipated bugs or heating problems, many do not want to upgrade to the latest version immediately.
This is why Apple released iOS 17.7, which includes security patches and bug fixes. According to Apple, the iOS 17.7 update offers significant security improvements and is advised for all users.
iOS 17.7 compatible devices –
iOS 17 is compatible with all now available iPhones, starting with the iPhone XS. This implies that it also applies to the 2018’s iPhone XR and iPhone XS Max. Any iPhone released after that is also compatible. The iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, and iPhone 11 series fall under this category. The 2nd-Gen iPhone SE is included in this as well.

Additionally, it is advised that you make an iCloud backup of your iPhone in case the procedure is interrupted.

Apple has not highlighted any new features, and it is obvious that bug repairs are the main focus of this release. Apple said and we are quoting, “This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”
This action allows customers to delay updating while still safeguarding their iPhones from risks. It is particularly useful for users who depend on specific apps that might not be entirely compatible with the new iOS 18.
