Facebook SDK Issue Caused Crashing to Spotify, TikTok, Tinder, & Many More

We all have either seen or experienced technology glitches that made our systems slow down from a cell phone to computer device. Recently, Facebook experienced some kind of tech glitch that made many popular iOS apps go haywire.

The apps like Tinder, TikTok, Pinterest, Spotify, & others started crashing & the user experience became worse than ever. Majorly, the mobile operating system that got affected was iOS as many iOS apps faced the same issue.

Facebook Issue Crashed Many Popular Apps Including TikTok

On Wednesday evening, many iOS apps started behaving badly due to unknown reasons to the users. The moment users started having the issue, they took it to Twitter & other crowded platforms to discuss the same. They were just wondering if they only had been a victim of it or everyone was having the same issue. And later on they got to know that it was an issue that happened with almost every app that uses the Facebook iOS SDK.

Facebook iOS SDK

From 1530 to 1830 (PT), thousands & thousands of users talked about crash reports on different platforms. The reports said that the popular or mostly used iOS apps (Tinder, TikTok, Pinterest, Spotify, & others) were shutting down as soon as you launch those.

With reference to this glitch, a Facebook spokesperson told The Verge “Earlier today, a new release of Facebook included a change that triggered crashes for some users in some apps using the Facebook iOS SDK. We identified the issue quickly and resolved it. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Apparently, the issue arises because of a problem with Facebook software development kit that has normally been used to power up the sign-in feature on many of the apps. Now you can understand how much Facebook SDK can affect if it’s not working as it’s supposed to.

One of the Twitter users (developer Guilherme Rambo) talked about the Facebook SDK issue “Cool, there’s a Facebook SDK issue crashing several high-profile apps right now. Great idea adding that social login, huh?”

Another thread had been posted on GitHub by one of the engineers who appeared to have a good insight on the topic, “We are using FBSDK in our app as an authentication option. FBSDK is crashing at a large volume.

Official Statements From Service Providers

Neither Facebook nor Apple came out in the public (social media platforms) to talk about the glitch that shocked people. Almost every app you use on a daily basis is not launching itself & as soon as you open it, it gets closed.

One of the Facebook spokesperson talked about the incident though that was followed by the assurance about the glitch being taken care of. However, Apple wasn’t available to comment on the issue anywhere.

Wrapping Up

It looks like Facebook is having the worst phase ever seen because of continuous blunders. From the much talked Cambridge Analytica incident to other data breaches & now this messing up with almost-every-app-you-use-today, Facebook is losing the trust big time. Being one of the four tech giants, Facebook owns almost every popular social media platform (WhatsApp, Facebook, & Facebook Messenger), but the company isn’t able to keep up with the user experience.

There are many users all over the world who are not in favor of using Facebook anymore & there are many who don’t even want to use any of the apps associated with Facebook, given its history of shattering privacy & security breaches.

Share your views on this incident that made users think twice before using any of the apps that powers up their login.
