The Apple Glowtime event was held on September 9, 2024, at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, US. The latest iterations of its core products were unveiled, and here is a roundup of the various announcements.
iPhone 16 – The Key Takeaways
The iPhone 16 will be available in ultramarine, teal, pink, black, and white.
iPhone 16 will be available in two sizes: 6.1 and 6.7 inches (iPhone 16 plus). The next generation of iPhone has been designed for Apple Intelligence from the ground up and is backed by the power of iOS 18.
And, as Tim Cook says – “It marks the beginning of an exciting new area.”
– Customizable Action Button
As was rumored, the Action Button will be featured in all iPhone 16 models. Other features include a camera control feature that allows users to control the camera with a sliding gesture.
Visual intelligence features AI to recognize restaurant details, dog breeds, etc. You can also use the Camera Control feature to fire up ChatGPT for more guidance.
The Camera Control has an innovative design that easily distinguishes between a lighter press and a full click. With a lighter press, you get access to useful camera functions. By pressing lightly twice, you can see other controls and so on.

The Apple Intelligence we talked about comes with Private Cloud Comput, which maintains privacy and security while giving you access to generative models.
It runs on servers built with Apple Silicon, which protects your personal information when accessing server-based intelligence.

When you run Apple Intelligence, you need a powerful chip. Apple seems to have upped the game here, so much so that they are supposedly challenging high-end desktop processors.
A18 is built using second-generation 3-nanometer technology, which has even smaller transistors.
Instead of jumping to A17, Apple has taken a two-generation leap to A18 (from A16 in iPhone 15).
iPhone 16 Pro kicks it up by packing inside an A18 Pro processor under the hood. Its 16-core neural engine offers 17% more bandwidth than the A17 Pro chip.
The A18 Pro has a 6-Core GPU and 2x ray tracing performance, a big plus for gamers who wish to indulge in graphic-intensive games such as Assassin’s Creed, Resident Evil, and Honour of Kings.

– Powerful And More Innovative Camera
It was speculated that the iPhone 16 Pro models have a more powerful camera than the iPhone 15 Pro models. On standard iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models, unlike the diagonal arrangement in iPhone 15, this will allow spatial video recording, a feature that is exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro models only.
As announced at the event, the iPhone 16 Pro has a new 48-megapixel ultrawide camera, compared to the 12-megapixel sensor found in the iPhone 15 Pro. It also boasts a 5X telephoto camera.
This will result in sharper images and much better performance in low-light conditions. The Pro variants are expected to feature a dedicated capture button that will function just like a DSLR shutter button.

The Apple Watch Series 10 offers 30% more screen area. It is made of durable ionic blast and extends further down the sides of the case. Under the front crystal, it offers an expansive top view, Apple’s first-ever wide-angle OLED display.
Every pixel has been optimized to emit more light at wider angles. Apple has made a display that offers 40% more brightness when viewed from an angle, is easier to glance at, and offers much better visibility. At just 9.7 mm, the Apple Watch Series 10 is 10% thinner than the Apple Watch Series 9.
In a first for an Apple Watch, the Apple Watch 10 can help detect if you have symptoms of Sleep Apnea. It also has a temperature reading ability and a depth gauge that lets you work while surfing or snorkeling.
The Apple Watch Series 10 is also the fastest-charging Apple Watch. In 30 minutes, it can reach 80% battery. The Series 10 uses a neural network to suppress background noise to improve phone calls.
