One of the exciting new features of Apple Intelligence in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 is the Image Wand. This tool allows you to transform rough sketches in the Notes app into realistic, polished images. With the iPadOS 18.2 beta now available, you can see the tool in action. In this guide, we will highlight all the features of the Image Wand and how to use it.
What Is The Apple Image Wand?
Image Wand is a feature derived from Image Playground, utilizing the same core image generation engine. Similar to Image Playground, you can create images using a text description, and Apple Intelligence will generate an image for you. Additionally, you can start with your own rough sketches as a base for the image creation.
Where To Use The Apple Image Wand?
Image Wand is specifically designed for use in the Notes app, where it is currently available. While Apple has primarily showcased the feature on the iPad, it is also functional in the Notes app on the iPhone. At present, Image Wand is limited to the Notes app, though Apple may expand its availability to other apps, such as Freeform, in the future.
The Image Wand will be accessible on devices that support Apple Intelligence. This includes the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, all iPhone 16 models, the iPad mini with the A17 Pro chip, and all iPads powered by Apple’s silicon chip.

Limitations of Image Wand
Unlike Genmoji and Image Playground, Image Wand has a specific limitation—it cannot generate images of people. If you attempt to create an image that includes a person, even in a generic form, you will be informed that images featuring people are not supported.
As with Image Playground and Genmoji, the tool also prohibits the creation of inappropriate content, such as violent or explicit images, as well as images based on copyrighted characters, individuals, or products.
Are You Familiar With Image Wand On iPadOS 18?
In conclusion, the Image Wand feature on iPad, available with iPadOS 18 and powered by Apple Intelligence, offers a creative and efficient way to turn rough sketches into detailed, realistic images directly within the Notes app.
Whether you’re an artist looking to enhance your sketches or someone who struggles with drawing, Image Wand provides a powerful tool to generate impressive visuals from simple descriptions or even blank spaces.
With the ability to refine and edit these generated images, it offers flexibility and creative freedom. While currently limited to the Notes app, it holds potential for expansion into other Apple apps in the future.
