1. Use ‘About This Mac’ To Check Serial Number Mac

  • On your Mac or MacBook, head to Apple Menu and select About This Mac. You’ll find the Apple menu icon in the upper-left corner of your screen.
  • Once you click ‘About this Mac’, you will see a screen with multiple details. Here you can see the Serial Number in the last line.
  • Not only this, you will also be able to get details regarding your macOS. The information includes the version, processor, memory, graphic card details, serial number etc.

2. Check MacBook Serial Number If MacBook Won’t Turn On

  • From the screen that pops up, choose ‘System Report’.
  • A new pop up will appear instantly showing a huge amount of information including hardware, software and other networks. The first screen that appears is ‘Hardware Overview’.
  • Here you will see the Mac or MacBook’s serial number in the last second line of the screen.

4. Use MacBook Terminal

This is the last but the important step to check for your Mac serial number. To check the serial number on Mac or MacBook, you need to turn on Terminal on your MacBook. Follow the  steps below:

  • On your device, go to the Finder search icon at the top right of your menu bar and type ‘Terminal’.
  • Once it opens, enter the following command: system_profiler SPHardwareDataType | grep Serial and press Enter.
  • On the next screen, you’ll find the serial number of your device.
  • If you couldn’t find, you can alternatively use the command below: ioreg -l | grep IOPlatformSerialNumber and press Enter.

You will get the result i.e. serial number of your Mac or MacBook soon after this.
