Restrict changes to Automatic Configuration in Internet Explorer

This setting prevents making changes to automatic configuration in connections tab of Internet Options.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
Automatic Configuration lets you check settings and change the configuration script but sometimes these settings may overrule the manual settings, which you might have made. You can disable the option on Internet Explorer's Internet Options.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below after creating the subkey, “\Control Panel\”, if it does not exist. Then, create a DWORD value name “AutoConfig” in the right panel. Now, right-click it and modify the data value with “1” to enable the setting and “0” to disable it.

Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

After restart of Internet Explorer, changes take effect.

Prevent Changes to Auto Config in Connections Tab of IE.reg

The '.reg' file will enable changes to Automatic Configuration in Connections tab in Internet Explorer.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'Automatic Configuration' under the 'Local Area Network'settings is disabled.

'Automatic Configuration' under the 'Local Area Network' settings is enabled by default.

First, click the Start button, and select Run. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\] and create a new key "Internet Explorer".

Third, create a subkey "Control Panel" under "Internet Explorer".

Fourth, create a DWORD value "Autoconfig".

Now,right-click on "Autoconfig" and select 'Modify'

Finally, set the value data to “1” in the textbox provided and click on 'OK'.
