Hide notification area items (For Current User).

This setting lets you to disable the display of items in the notification area.

Tweak for : Windows 98
Notification area is a part of taskbar – generally called as System Tray, which also contains start menu, quick launch bar, taskbar window. The area is used for displaying icons of Windows applications, user opened programs, and other third-party software. The items present in the notification area do run in Windows as background service. Display of the items in the notification area can be disable, per your choice.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD value “NoTrayItemsDisplay”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can disable the items in notification area. However, if you want to get the items back, change the value to “0”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Hide notification icons from taskbar.reg

The '.reg' file can disable the display of items in the Notification Area (in System Tray).

Show notification icons from taskbar (Default).reg

The '.reg' file can enable the display of items in the Notification Area (in System Tray).

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Items in the Notification Area (system Tray) are hidden.

Items in the Notification Area (system Tray) are visible by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\] , right-click in the open area to create a DWORD Value with the name "NoTrayItemsDisplay " in "Explorer" key.

Next, right-click on "NoTrayItemsDisplay" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value User "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Show only taskbar icon of minimized applications.

By using this tweak you are able to reduce the size each button needs inside the taskbar.

Disable context menu display on the Taskbar.

This setting disables the context menu from appearing on right-clicking on Start button or Navigation Area generally called System Tray.

Disable animation while resizing the window.

The user can specify if Windows should animate a window while minimizing, maximizing, and restoring the size of the window.

Restore “Show Desktop” icon in the Quick Launch Bar.

If you have some windows open on your desktop, you can minimize all those windows with the “Show Desktop” button. If this button is not present in the Quick Launch Bar, you can create it using this setting.

Add “Windows Explorer” icon to the Quick Launch Bar.

If you want quick access to your “Windows Explorer”, you can add the "Windows Explorer" icon in the Quick Launch Bar. This setting enables you to create this icon.
