Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.
The list of recently opened items is cleared from the "My Recent Documents" after the changes have been made in the registry.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting
dialog box, type "regedit".
Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\], key and create a new key with the name "Explorer" under "Policies".

with the name "ClearRecentDocsOnExit" in "Explorer" key.
Next, right-click on "ClearRecentDocsOnExit" and click on 'Modify'.
Finally, enter the value "1" (Base Hexadecimal) without quotation in

logoff, the changes take effect.
