Amidst the staying-&-working-from-home period, we all are experiencing different tech things rolling out more often than usually. Recently, Microsoft announced the Microsoft 365 suite, the quarantine app Houseparty & whatnot. Now, the latest announcement with Microsoft has given us nostalgia.
The new news scrolling bar from Microsoft will be embedded with latest news from all over the world. It’s actually an app called “News Bar” that will be sitting right above the taskbar of your system.
Windows 10 Scrolling News Bar
Still in beta testing, the Microsoft scrolling News Bar can be accessed from here. Under the category of News & Weather, the application has been developed by Microsoft to keep you updated on everything in the world.
Since the whole world is going through the dark phase with the COVID-19 pandemic, being updated on what’ happening everywhere is quite important. That is where the News Bar kicks in & helps you being updated and a step ahead with the latest news.
The experience of having the scrolling News Bar will be quite similar to the news we experience on news channels on our TVs. The news gets scrolled from right to left side with headlines and just like on TV, you can get yourself updated.
All you need to do is, just sign up with your Microsoft account and be ready to get updated on every news whatsoever.

What Are The Features News Bar Offer?
The News Bar brings you the latest news from the Microsoft News network of over 4500 of the world’s most respected journalism brands. In addition, you can configure it to provide you with up to date information throughout the day on your favorite stocks.
Microsoft’s Windows News Bar works just like the Windows Taskbar. It’s there when you need it, where you need it and how you need it. Customize its appearance in settings to find the experience that’s just right for you. If you want to focus, don’t worry, you can minimize the News Bar at any time and then bring it back when you’re ready for it again.
Windows taskbar, the News Bar can also be scrolled over the desktop in bottom, right, left, & top corners. The News Bar is in Beta now, try it out and let us know how we can make it better!
Rafael Rivera from Microsoft took it to Twitter to announce about the scrolling app bar on the top of the Windows taskbar:
Beta Testing & Feedback Phase
Since the News bar is in the beta testing phase, the company expects us to try it out and help with the feedback. The feedback will be based on the current experiences, system glitches, or anything that puts you off while using the app (apart from news content).
A couple of challenges users encountered that need to be taken care of before launching worldwide:
With scrolling News Bar, there are a few limitations that include sources of information & default browser preference. First is that you have no control over the resources, you are getting the news and topics to read. Second, it doesn’t care what your default browser has been set to as it will default open the links in Microsoft’s Edge browser.
Wrapping Up
While being at home, all we are trying to do is work efficiently & get updated with our regional updates. In order to know what’s happening around our familiar places, let’s start scrolling the News Bar. Additionally, the app also gives us a good experience of feeling like for a ime, we are watching a TV channel.
