Exactly how can millions of cellphone users disappear and that too in a quarter? Since COVID-19 originated from China, it has affected the region the most. Not in terms of victims only, but the country as a whole.
The outbreak has been labeled as Pandemic by the World Health Organization a while ago. & People all over the world have been advised to stay home & not come to work.
Cellphone Users Reduction in China
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, out of 81,171 infected cases, more than 3250 have been fatalities as of Tuesday. Even though human life is more valuable than anything, we got to know about the shocking & troubling disappearance of over 20 million cell phone accounts in China over the last quarter. A quite huge and unprecedented decline in mobile users gives us enough reason to believe that there are more fatalities than the country is ready to admit.
In mid-March 2019, Beijing authorities had announced the drastic decrease in the number of active cell phone users. And like everyone else, the country is considering the COVID-19 outbreak as the main reason in the dramatic fall. Just as any other country, China is also untouched with the fact that cellphones are an indispensable part of our lives.
Whole lot of us just can’t imagine our lives moving without this gadget in our hands or pockets. So when we talk about the disappearance of more than 20 million active users, either the infected cases are more than shown in the stats or a lot of people just ditched their cell phones without second thoughts.
On March 21st, Tang Jingyuan (US based China Affairs commentator) talked to Epoch Times, “The digitalization level is very high in China. People can’t survive without a cellphone. Dealing with the government for pensions & social security, buying train tickets, shopping… no matter what people want to do, they are required to use cell phones.”
“The Chinese regime requires all Chinese to use their cellphones to generate a health code. Only with a green health code are Chinese allowed to move in China now. It’s impossible for a person to cancel his cellphone “.
Cell Phone based Health Codes in China
The country launched the cell phone-based health code app on March 10 where people needed to register on the app without failing. After the registration, they had to put in their personal health information followed by generating a QR code.
The QR code will be displayed in 3 different colors that will classify the health level. The colors can be Red, Yellow, or Green which will define if you are in contact with the infectious disease or not. Where Green one says the user is healthy as ever, Yellow means the person might be in contact with the disease. And, Red assures that the person is an assured victim of the infectious disease called Novel Coronavirus.
China claims that they had to come up with the health code featured app so that they can try & prevent the Coronavirus (CCP Virus) spread.

The Delay in Futuristic Approach to 5G Expansion
It feels like the whole world has stopped for a while and everything has been shelved from going to office to big budget movies, executive meetings to the largest tech exhibitions on the planet. Moreover, the futuristic approach of China to expand the 5G network throughout the country has been delayed big time.
However, Chris Lane (an analyst at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co) says that “things may improve starting this month as work in factories and other businesses in China resumes”.
I don’t know if it’s only me who feels like this shouldn’t be a good move to resume factories & other business entities for now. When the virus is bigger than ever & some of the countries have decided to lockdown the whole region for nearly a month, I think resuming work wouldn’t be an ideal situation.

The dramatic decrease in the number of cell phone users in China is a big thing to worry about. However, it takes us on two roads to either believe in people ditching their cell phones or thinking that the country isn’t revealing the exact number of COVID-19 victims.
Let’s see what stats we get to see in the coming weeks from all over the world including China. We hope to see a big decrease in the number of victims because of the Novel Coronavirus outbreak.
