How to Flip or Rotate an Image in Google Docs

While working with images in MS Word has become simpler, you might encounter some challenges when it comes to Google Docs. Most of the users are already familiar with Word however, the same shortcuts and tricks don’t work on Google Docs. How to Insert Image in Google Docs:

Step-by-Step guide for inserting images in Google Docs:

Step 1. Access Google Docs from the Google Menu or by accessing docs.google.com on your Google Chrome browser. You may need to sign in to your Google Account if not already signed in.

Step 2. Click on the Blank document or select a template for your document.

Step 3. Move your cursor to the point where you wish to insert an image.

Step 4. Click on the Insert menu on the top and select the Image option.

Step 5. You can choose to select an image from your computer, search the web, from Google Drive, or Google Photos, use a URL, or capture through the camera.

Adjusting Images on Google Docs Editor:

There are a few options to edit images on Google Docs. You can resize, crop, and adjust the image brightness, contrast, transparency, and color saturation of the image. Here are a few tips on how to do it!

Step 1. Access your Google Doc and select the image you wish to work with.

Step 2. You can perform the following actions once you see selection handles around the image.

Resize Image – Move your pointer on any of the squares and drag the pointer to shrink the image.

Crop Image – Double tap on the image to see black corners and bars around the image. Now if you drag any corner, the image will be cropped from that side.

Image Options – Click on the Image Options button on the toolbar. You will find options for Size and Rotation, Text Wrapping, Recolour, and Adjustments. You can adjust the Opacity, Brightness, and Contrast color of the selected image.

Image Toolbar – When you select the image, all the selection handles around the image, changes to the Image editing bar. You can add borders, select the pattern of the border, change the color of the border, and position the image to the Right, Left, or Center Alignment.

How to Rotate an Image on Google Docs:

Earlier the Rotate Image feature was not there on Google Docs however, now we have an intuitive Google Editor option available for images. You can rotate an image to a certain degree or rotate it to 90, 180, or 360 degrees.

Step 1. Access your Google Doc and select the image you wish to work with.

Step 2. You can perform the following actions once you see selection handles around the image.

Step 3. Click on the Image Options button on the toolbar and another slider menu will pop up.

Step 4. Expand the Size and Rotation option to explore options.

Step 5. Before you rotate the image, you can resize the height and width of the image.

Step 6. Under the Rotate section, click on the Angles section and give it a number to the degree you wish to rotate it. You can also click on the 90 degrees rotation button to keep on turning the selected image to the angle you want.

How to Flip Image on Google Docs:

Step 6. Click on the Action button on the top left, go to the Rotate section, and click on Flip Horizontally or Flip Vertically. You will be able to get the mirror image. Click on the Save and Close button to add the flipped images to your Google Docs.
