Even though installing apps from Google Play is as simple as 1-2-3, you need to be very wise with the apps you are installing on your Android device.
Just as in a physical market, you have to have some smart moves up your sleeves with the help of which you can buy the right stuff. Here are some tips and tricks that’ll make managing apps on Google Play, a child’s play for you.
1. You Can Install An App That Is Unavailable In Your Country
Love Fortnite, but can’t seem to install the game, since you reside in India. What would you do? Let go of the dream of enjoying the game? certainly not! Use a VPN service on your device and get your hands on this app.
Take our word for it, install NordVPN which has over 5700 servers is over 60 countries. So, it goes without saying that the speed is just fantastic. Once NordVPN is on your device, select the Play Store of the country whose app you wish to access and voila!
Floss your way to any country’s app on Playstore now!
2. Try Games Before Paying Upfront
Because it hurts when you have paid oodles for a game and the game’s just not as you expected it to be. Sure you can go for the refund (and,we have mentioned that route too!) but try a demo instead. Though the demo will be really short, you’ll get the feel of the game at least. All you have to do is tap on the ‘Try Now’ button placed just next to the ‘Install’ button.
Note: You can use the ‘Try Now’ only if the developer has enabled this feature.
3. Access Your Devices Via Web
You probably won’t be able to manage the devices which are associated with your Google account on the device per se but, the web version of Google Play gives you the power to manage them. To do that
1. Visit play.google.com
2. Now, click on the gear icon on the right-hand side
3. You will now be able to manage your devices
4. Be a Beta Tester Of The Apps
Do you love an app so much that you want to have a first hand experience of its new features? Seems your wish has been granted. To become a beta tester of the app, you will have to enroll for the Google Play Beta program.
Note: The app needs to have a Google Play Beta Program in the first place. If the app does not have an option or says that the Beta Program is full, you’re out of luck!
Find an app that you would like to test. Now scroll down to the bottom of the page and you will find Join the beta . Once you locate this, tap on the Join and that’s it ! you will be able to have access to all the features of that particular app before anyone else.
View Only Relevant App Reviews
5. Download Genuine Apps With Genuine Reviews
There are apps whos reviews make it appear as if there is no better app. But then the reality hits us when we find that app lacks features, lags a lot, even has poor design. So is there a way to view genuine and relevant reviews? And more importantly, is there a way to stay away from such apps on Google Play.
Yes, there surely is.
To filter reviews, scroll down to the bottom of an app. Tap on the right arrow ( → ) next to Ratings and reviews.
Now, here’s where you can actually filter the app’s reviews based on the following parameters –
- Positive / Critical/ Rating
- Relevance
- and other aspects
6. Applying For Refunds
You can be refunded for an app that you paid for and didn’t like within 2 hours of your purchase. In that period you can check if the app has stood up to your expectations. You can check its various features, design and everything else. Here’s how to apply for a refund –
Open Google Play > tap on the three horizontal lines on the left > tap on account > choose Purchase history > Open the app > Tap on refund (within two hours)
If you are scared that your child might make a purchase without your permission, use the following steps –
Settings > Require authentication for purchases > For all purchases through Google Play on this device (or other option as per your desire)
You can now enter the password of your Gmail account associated with Google Play
