How to Use Advanced PDF Manager to Add a Password

  • Download and Install Advanced PDF Manager.

  • If you have purchased the tool, click the key icon and input the license key. If you haven’t. click the Continue Free Trial button.

  • Click on Open file > go to the location where the PDF is saved > pick it and add the PDF you wish to password-protect to the list.

  • Change the view to Small Multiview once you’ve uploaded the PDF, then click Protect.

Note that the option is not shown in Collapse Multiview. Also, there should be no PDFs chosen. Uncheck it if it’s checked, and you’ll be able to view the Protect option.

  • Click Protect after entering the password in the blank box.

  • Finally, save a password-protected PDF by clicking the Save button.

  • To double-check, open the PDF; it will not prompt you for the password to double-check.

Method 2: Using Word to Password Protect a PDF file

If you don’t want to use a tool and want to create a PDF file and then secure it, this method will help you.To do so, take the following steps:

  • Open the Word document that you’d like to convert to PDF.
  • Select File > Save As > from the File menu. Choose PDF as the file type. (as seen in the image below)

  • Select “More choices” from the drop-down menu beneath the file format box, then “Options” from the pop-up menu.

  • When asked, select “Encrypt document using a password option” and type a password (twice).

  • Save the file.
  • The password must be entered each time the file is opened.
