Design  – Looks Do Matter, But How Much?

There’s a slight but not a very radical difference in the design – the iPhone 3 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max come with a smaller notch.

More specifically, the front notch is 20% smaller. Otherwise, there is not much difference, compared to 2020 models, all variants -iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max retain a frosted glass rear with three camera lenses on the top, the same flatter frame, and MagSafe magnets under the hood. You can now snap on a magnetic wallet, case, or even both and get faster charging.

A noticeable difference between iPhone 12 and 13 is the new diagonal rear dual camera as compared to the straight one in iPhone 12.

As for the availability of colors, the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 are available in blue, pink, midnight, product red, and starlight colors. The Pro and Pro Max variants are available in graphite, silver, gold, and the new Sierra blue. Apart from the Sierra blue which is lighter than iPhone 12 Pro’s Pacific blue, the colors available are more or less the same.

Display and Resolution – Better Visibility

As far as display size is concerned, both iPhone 13 and 12 (Pro and Pro Max variants) offer nearly the same specs i.e.  6.1 inches (2532 X 1170 pixels with 460 PPI density) and 6.7 inches (2778 X 1284 pixels with 458 PPI density) respectively along with  XDR display. However, the new iPhone 13 offers a better adaptive refresh rate at 120 Hz as opposed to the 60 Hz refresh rate offered by iPhone 12. A better refresh rate means you can save a lot of battery when, for instance, watching a movie.

Processor – How Power Efficient Is The iPhone 13?

When thinking of iPhone 12 vs iPhone 13, power and battery are two aspects that strike one’s mind. After all, besides looks, what equally matters is the performance.

In these two departments, iPhone 13 beats iPhone 12 across the board. Apple touts iPhone 13 as the fastest ever iPhone, thanks to the A15 Bionic chipset compared to iPhone 12’s A14 Bionic chipset. iPhone 13’s A15 Bionic chipset delivers a 6 core CPU that has 2 high-performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. Apple says that the A15 Bionic chip is up to 50% faster than any competitor. Additionally, the A15 even makes the GPU up to 30 % faster.

Apple has increased battery life by one and half hours on iPhone 13 Mini and 13 Pro, and by two and a half hours more on iPhone 13 and 13 Pro Max, thanks to a more efficient A15 Bionic processor and better hardware and software integration.

Camera and Video – How Well Will I Be Able To Capture Moments?

The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max offer a better Triple rear 6X optical zoom range in comparison to its predecessors that offer 4X and 5X optical zoom range respectively. Apart from that both iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max are better structured with night mode, better photographic styles, and Macro photography.

Both iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have a new wide lens that captures 2.2 x more light, an ultra-wide lens that captures 92% more light, and a 3X telephoto lens for better optical zoom. All this is better powered by sensor-shift stabilization. These will help cut down any irritating camera shakes. Also, with iPhone 13 pro and Pro Mac, you get the largest sensor which will help you take better shots in low light situations, preferably much better than iPhone 12 Pro.
