Your Apple Watch paired up with your iPhone makes a great companion, right? And, sure you look forward to the new features that Apple releases periodically. For instance, the ability to eject water from the watch using the “Water Lock” feature, or even playing games to stay entertained.
Talking of what’s new, Apple rolled out watchOS 11.2 on December 11, 2024. It has added two new features. Here we would like to mention that we’ll not just be diving into the features of watchOS 11.2 but we’ll also do a recap of the features that came with watchOS 11.1 as well a little later. So, if you haven’t updated your Apple Watch, maybe now’s the right time.
What’s New With watchOS 11.2?
If you are clueless as to how to update the WatchOS, you can head to this post and check out its solution no. 5.
Here are the new features in watchOS 11.2 –
Feature # 1 – Pause iPhone Video From Camera On Apple watchOS
When you scroll on your Apple Watch and go to Camera, it doesn’t just open the camera, instead, you can also pause the recording of your iPhone video right from your Apple Watch itself. To be able to use this feature, your iPhone should be upgraded to iOS 18 or above.
The Feature is Not Bereft of Bugs
Some users have reported that they weren’t able to see the preview of the iPhone footage on their Apple Watch. If that’s the case on your iOS devices, do this – Close the Camera app on both your iPhone and Apple Watch, and open it again on both devices. This time around, you should be able to see the preview on both devices.
Feature # 2 – Tides App Expands Map Support
Scroll on your Apple Watch and tap on Tides. Within the Tides app, if you go and search for different areas, you’ll come across some new options.
For instance, when you scroll down and tap on the +, you can now add options such as Hong Kong, as long as it is available in coastal China. So, depending on where you are in China, if you are traveling to a coastal region/ city there, you’ll be able to access the option to see the different tides in that region.

Sleep Apnea Feature
The Apple Watch uses an accelerometer to monitor small movements on your wrist. Through this, it perceives any interruptions in normal respiratory patterns tracked by a new Apple Watch metric known as Breathing Disturbances.
Barring some disturbances that are normal, if interruptions occur frequently, the watch prompts you if you have any chances of sleep apnea via the Health app.
