1. OCR (Optical Character Recognition): Single, Batch & from Scanner

AI-based, multi-lingual OCR delivering 92% text recognition accuracy on a 21-page scanned document processed offline. It converted scanned images or camera-based PDFs into selectable, editable text. 3. Compression & Optimization
Reduce file size without visible quality loss with five compression levels to choose from.
Often, when sharing PDFs, the size limit feels like a roadblock. Systweak PDF Editor has a solution for this, too. You can quickly reduce the size of your PDF files without changing image quality or formatting. The tool offers different compression levels to help balance file size and visual quality.
I uploaded a 10 MB PDF with graphs, charts, and scanned pages. The “High Compression (Method 2)” reduced it to about 4.09 MB without any visible degradation. I also tried the batch compression, and it worked perfectly. The compression method not only reduced file size but also optimized the structure, resulting in a perfectly compressed, optimized PDF file. This helps attach PDFs to emails and upload them quickly.

4. Redact & Protect Sensitive Information
Permanently remove sensitive content.
Redaction and document sanitization are other overlooked features. Redaction is about hiding data and making it irreversible. Once applied, the selected text is gone forever, and you can’t find it. I tested it on a contract where the client’s name and email addresses were to be hidden. After searching and redacting the details, I was unable to retrieve any of it. Even after copying the redacted information into Notepad, nothing worked. That’s the assurance you get from this, and the search function found all the instances, which saved my time.
Moreover, it has a Whiteout option that helps maintain the visual layout, and you can even remove metadata, password-protect PDFs, set permissions to restrict copying or printing, save up to three frequently used passwords in the security settings, or use Batch Protect/Unprotect to lock or unlock multiple files at once.
5. Edit Text & Images
Work with text and images directly.
When working with PDF files, editing text and images is the biggest challenge. This is why I started with this feature: I had a 40-page document to edit. To my surprise, without changing the formatting, I was able to correct grammatical mistakes, change the font style and size, and apply inline formatting where needed. Also, I was able to replace and reposition images. This means that with this tool, you can edit directly on the page, reorder, duplicate, or rotate pages, use Facing Page Mode for book-style alignment, and do whatever you want. It is like you are working with a .doc file in MS Word.
How to Edit PDFs in Systweak PDF Editor:
- Open the PDF you want to edit.
- Click the Edit Tab.
- To edit text or an image, click Edit Content.
- Dotted boxes will surround each paragraph and image in the document. Click the text box or image you want to modify.
- The dotted box will turn into a solid square, allowing you to make changes and choose customization options from the right panel. You can select -Font Color
Opacity
Font type
Font style
Font size
Alignment
- To apply changes, click outside the box.
- Save the file, and you are done.
6. Merge, Split, and Compare PDFs
Combine, extract, reorder, or compare documents.
Whether you want to merge multiple PDFs or specific pages into one file, or split by page range, or even/odd, and extract selected pages into new PDFs, or reverse page order, or compare two documents, you can do it all with this tool. Using the merge feature and its options, you can combine multiple documents. The split options help pull out pages you want to share and create a separate document, while the Compare PDF options help with a side-by-side comparison option for proofreading files. These features might look small, but they make Systweak PDF Editor a complete editor that addresses both small and big problems users might face when working with PDFs.
To merge several PDFs into one
Tools > Merge PDF > Add Files (drag-drop works) and that’s it.
Tip: If the merged PDFs are large in size, you can Compress PDF to reduce their size.
To split a large PDF
Page tab > Split > choose By Range > set preference > OK, and you have a new split PDF.
To reverse page order
Tools > More Options > Reverse Pages > save the file, and you’re done.
Compare two versions side-by-side
Click Tools > More Options > Compare PDF > Add both PDFs to compare and compare content or PERFORM overlay comparison.
7. Digital Signatures & Certificates (business-grade)
Sign and certify documents using industry-standard certificate files.
When we talk about document authentication, it’s not just e-signing it. It is more than that. With Systweak PDF Editor, you can digitally sign and certify PDFs using industry-standard .pfx/.p12 certificate files or even smart cards and tokens, which is an unusual offering for a tool in this price range.
It took me less than a minute to set up a digital ID. Once it was configured, digitally signing documents was a breeze.
I was also able to e-sign documents in bulk (image-based, freehand, or using uploaded signatures).
What I admired the most was the way everything worked. This feature makes it easy to validate HR and finance documents.
8. Batch Processing
Apply actions across entire folders or multiple PDFs simultaneously.
Batch Processing is another excellent feature. I never thought that I would find this feature in this tool, as most popular editors don’t have it. Bulk processing helps me save time, and I can queue up entire folders of PDFs to apply actions like Batch Convert, Batch Protect, Batch Compress, or Batch OCR simultaneously. With a simple and clean interface, I can drop files, customize settings, and just wait for the software to do its magic. I ran a batch of 8 PDFs with approx 250 pages and performed batch compression; it worked magic. Under a minute, even on a HDD, with consistent output quality.
Batch processing is a lifesaver; it streamlines the workflow without any command-line or cloud tools.
9. Repair PDF & Revert to Saved
Recover corrupted files and undo entire editing sessions
Everyone would agree that we only value a thing when it is lost. The same goes for important documents when they are corrupt; only then is the value of a repair or recovery tool felt. Systweak PDF Editor offers a built-in Repair PDF feature and even lets you Revert the PDF to the last saved version in the current session.
The Repair PDF is practical, and it works well. When a file refuses to open and shows an error, you get prompted to repair it. I tested a corrupt PDF file, and Systweak PDF Editor restored it in under 30 seconds. For anyone looking for a tool that handles repair PDF tasks without needing a third-party tool, this is your go-to PDF editor.
Then there’s Revert to Saved, a feature that helps get back the original document if you accidentally delete, misapply redaction, or do any other modification. This feature is not limited like the Undo feature. It restores the document to its last saved state regardless of the number of changes you made.
In a market filled with expensive and complicated PDF editors, this single tool focuses on small but meaningful features that come in handy when you are stuck and need a solution.
10. Annotation & Commenting
Mark up, review, and comment without switching to a separate tool.
Systweak PDF Editor doesn’t overwhelm you with different annotating tools. It just gives the tools you actually need to mark up, review, and collaborate efficiently.
The Comment tab offers highlighting, underlining, strikethrough, freehand drawing, notes, stamps, shapes, and attachments options. You can pick from any of these tools and annotate the text. Also, you can customize them using the options in the right panel when you use each option. The freehand and stamp tool makes it easy to review drafts.
11. User Interface
Ribbon-style layout modelled on Microsoft Office
The UI of Systweak PDF Editor is similar to that of Microsoft Office (ribbon-style). All the features are logically grouped under different tabs. I opened around 15-20 PDFs simultaneously across tabs, and the application worked without any issues. RAM usage was around 250 MB, which is remarkably efficient. The Quick Access shortcuts for Recent Files and Starred Documents were also impressive. so you can jump between projects without clutter.
In short, Systweak PDF Editor is a tool designed for everyone, regardless of age.
12. More Options” power tools
If these features aren’t enough for you, no worries. Simply click the Tools tab > More options, and get options like
- Word Count

Real-World Use Cases
While testing Systweak PDF Editor, I realized it is not just any “universal PDF tool.” Its strength lies in its features and how well it gels with real-world workflows. From students to professionals, from finance departments to publishing teams, accountants, and legal people, everyone can use it.
Students & Researchers
If you are a student or researcher, you can use Systweak PDF Editor to annotate eBooks, merge and edit handwritten notes, edit mistakes, compress PDFs, and keep the documents organized. You can even bookmark important chapters for quicker navigation.
Lawyers & HR Professionals
Legal and HR professionals can use it to redact confidential information, digitally sign contracts, and batch-protect sensitive files. Also, they can set up frequently used passwords to save time on repeated encryption tasks.
Finance Teams & Accountants
These professionals can easily use batch processing to create, compress, convert, protect, unprotect, and OCR scanned PDF files.
Small Businesses & Entrepreneurs
Small teams usually don’t have dedicated IT support to protect their documents. In such cases, these institutes can use Systweak PDF Editor to add watermarks, stamps, passwords, and repair damaged PDFs.
Writers, Editors & Reviewers
For writers and editorial teams, the annotation tools are amazing. They can highlight passages, add inline comments, and use stamps to mark versions like Draft, Reviewed, or Final.
Summary
- Verdict summary: Systweak PDF Editor is a “do-it-all” PDF editing tool for Windows, allowing editing of scanned and non-scanned PDFs. You can even redact, password protect, extract, merge, repair, compress, compare, and perform other PDF editing operations without affecting quality. However, in an offline desktop environment, real-time collaboration is lacking.

Final Verdict
Systweak PDF Editor lives up to its promise. It is a complete PDF editing tool that also serves as an editor, scanner, reader, and viewer. Its clean interface makes editing text, merging, applying redactions, and signing forms so easy that anyone can get the work done. Its OCR, watermarking, password protection, repair, form creation, and other options are so impressive, and it worked perfectly on my PC throughout my tests. Even during heavy batch conversions and OCR scans, it didn’t crash.
The tool excels at offline reliability, text recognition via OCR, redaction, repair, and batch processing. In my opinion, if there had been a macOS version and cloud collaboration, the tool would have been highlighted more.
In the end, it is a reliable PDF editing tool that works well on Windows, mobile devices, and offers basic to advanced features one can ask for.
