  • /hybrid—shutdown followed by fast start up, used in conjunction with /s
  • /f forces all running applications to close
  • /t 00 tells the command to restart without any time delay (zero seconds)
  • /c enables the addition of a message, such as: “The IT department is remotely restarting your computer.”
  • /? displays a full list of commands

In case the command does not work, you can try it again by replacing the forward slash ‘/’ with a hyphen ‘-’. The only limitation while using this process to shutdown remote computers is that you are required to be connected to your remote computer with admin privileges. If you have configured high security on your system, this might be a bit of a difficult process.

2. Use Remote Desktop to Restart Remote Computer

Remote Desktop is Windows inbuilt app and saves you from following the command approach to restart remote computer. This is used over a network and you’ll be required to set up port forwarding on your router. Type ‘rdp’ in the search bar to locate Remote Desktop Connection.

Run the Remote Desktop Connection app and input IP address or the hostname of your PC.
