How To Fix Runtime Error In Internet Explorer

Runtime error refers to an error that occurs while a program is in execution. It can be caused if a website uses HTML code that is not compatible with the web browser functionality.

Chances are, these errors are runtime errors which hamper the normal functioning of Internet Explorer. By implementing a few steps, you can easily fix Runtime Error in your browser:

Reset your browser. To do this, follow the steps given below:

  • Close all programs.
  • Open Internet Explorer, and click on the “gear icon” on the upper right corner of the browser, then click on Internet Options.

  • In the Internet Options dialog box, click on the “Advanced” tab, then click on the “Reset” button.

  • In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, click on “Reset” button.

  • When Internet Explorer has completed its task, click on the “Close” button. Restart your PC to apply changes.

  • For some users, resetting of the browser to its default settings as described above, has helped to fix the run-time error issue. If you still face the same error, proceed to the next step.

Disable script debugging and error notifications. To do this, follow the following steps:

  • Close all programs and windows.
  • Open Internet Explorer, and click on the “gear icon” on the upper right corner of the browser, then click on Internet Options.

  • In the Internet Options dialog box, click on the “Advanced” tab.
  • Scroll down the list, and check mark the boxes next to the labels “Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer)” and Disable Script Debugging (Other)”.

  • Scroll down and look for the label Display a Notification about every Script Error” and clear the check mark from the box.

  • Hit the ‘Apply’ button to save the settings.
  • Close the Internet Explorer and Reboot the computer.

In most cases, runtime errors should be resolved by implementing the above-mentioned steps. However, in rare cases, if none of these steps can fix the errors, you may be encountering a more serious problem. There might be a possibility that the errors are within the registry, which is causing the program to malfunction.
