Remove Security Center icon from the system tray.

This tweak can remove the Security Center icon from the system tray.

Tweak for : Windows Vista
Security Center for Windows Vista runs as a background process that monitors the security state of your computer. Security Center is a comprehensive security status reporting utility that enables you to understand the ongoing security state of your computer. It collects information from Windows and third-party security components designed to protect your system from computer threats.

If you are an avid user of computer and have the know-how to maintain intact security of your system, you may desire to remove the icon from the system tray. To remove the Security Center icon follow the steps below:

1. Go to Start > Run menu and type in cmd in the blank field.
2. Type cd\ and press enter.
3. At the root directory, type cd windows\system32 and again press enter.
4. Here, execute the given commands individually:
a. takeown /f wscapi.dll
b. takeown /f wscsvc.dll
c. takeown /f wscui.cpl
5. This will give you the ownership of the files.
6. Type the command %windir%\system32 in Start > Run menu, to open the folder.
7. Find the file “wscapi.dll”, right-click on it to open the Properties dialog.
8. In the “Security” tab, add an entry for “Everyone” and click on “Check Names” button to verify the legitimacy of name. Give “Full Control” permission to the newly added user.
9. Next, access Services window by going through Start > Run menu, and entering services.msc as the command.
10. Double-click the “Security Center” service to disable its execution.
11. Change the extension of the .dll file to .bak to show as “wscapi.bak” in system32 folder.
12. Finally delete registry by typing command at the Command Prompt:
REG DELETE HKLM\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\WSCSVC /F.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.
