A print spooler is a program that puts the printing jobs (documents/data) in a buffer, a special area in memory or on a hard disk, which can be accessed by a printer or a plotter. It puts the print jobs on a queue and sends them one at a time to the printer. This process leaves you free to perform other operations while the printing takes place in the background.
