Enable install using privileged account always

This setting enables you to use privilege account always during installation of Windows Installer.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
To install Windows installer package with elevated system privileges, the user must seek system's permission. It allows user to access directories and registry keys, which are not allowed otherwise, so that they can be displayed and modified only if the users are being benefited with good level of security. If this policy is not set, then only managed applications get the elevated privileges.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkey “\Windows\Installer” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create an DWORD value name “AlwaysInstallElevated”, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click and modify the value data box with “1”. Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

Restart the computer.

This setting applies to both the current user and all users.

Enable install using privileged account always.reg

The '.reg' file will enable install using privileged account.

Disable install using privileged account always.reg

The '.reg' file will disable install using privileged account.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The privileged account is always required during installation of Windows Installer after the changes.

The privileged account is not required during installation of Windows Installer.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\] key, right-click and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "Windows".

Third, right-click on the 'Windows' key and click on "New > Key" to create a new key with the name "Installer".

Fourth, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > DWORD Value" to create a new DWORD value with the name "AlwaysInstallElevated".

Fifth, right-click on the 'AlwaysInstallElevated' DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Sixth, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
