Hide the “History” system folder in the Places Bar.

Places Bar is the bar which allows you to jump directly to History, My Documents etc in the lift side of Microsoft Office “Open/Save dialog”. This tweak is used to hide the “History” System folder in Places Bar of MS Office XP.

Places Bar is the bar which allows you to jump directly to History, My Documents etc in the lift side of Microsoft Office “Open/Save dialog”. This tweak is used to hide the “History” System folder in Places Bar of MS Office XP.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a Dword value “Show”, in the right panel, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify its value to “0” which can hide “History” folder. However, if you want show the folder back, change the value data to “1” or delete the added value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Hide system folder 'History' in 'Places Bar'.reg

The ".reg" file can hide the system folder "History" from the "Places Bar" .

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

The "History" folder is not visible in the "Places Bar" after the changes.

The "History" folder is visible.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common\Open Find\Places\StandardPlaces\Recent\] key, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > DWORD Value" to create a new DWORD value with the name "Show".

Third, right-click on the 'Show' DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the value "0" in the text box and click on 'OK'.
