Deactivate ClearType reading layout mode.

This setting lets you deactivate ClearType reading layout mode.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
Windows XP and upward support ClearType, a new display technology that increases the sharpness and the clarity of text when using a TFT display. However, when using some strange fonts, the opposite might happen. The fonts don't look sharp but instead appear blurry on the screen. Of course, you can display ClearType altogether, but you might just disable it in Word when using the Reading Layout view.

By default, Word 2003 Reading Layout mode uses a display technology that is named ClearType to help increase the sharpness and the clarity of text on the screen. ClearType can significantly increase text clarity on LCD laptop displays; however text image clarity may be reduced on some CRT monitors. To turn off ClearType for Word 2003 Reading Layout mode, make some changes in the registry:

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If the subkeys “\11.0\Word\Options” are not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a DWORD value name “NoClearTypeNW”, if this value does not exist. Now, right-click it and modify the data value with “1” to enable the setting.

Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

Logoff or restart your system.
