Prevent changes to Internet Explorer history period

This setting disables you to make changes in history settings in General tab of Internet Explorer.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
The history panel records all the pages you have visited recently and you can manage the days for how long you want to keep these pages. Internet Explorer gives you the option to store history for desired number of days. With this tweak, you can disable this option.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below after creating the subkey, “Control Panel”, if it does not exist. Now, create a DWORD value name “History” in the right panel. Right-click on it and modify the data value with “1” to prevent changes and “0” to enable it.

Click “OK” and close the registry editor.

Restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

Disable History.reg

The '.reg' file can disable changes to history setting.

Enable History (Default).reg

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Option to set history period is disabled.

First, click the Start button, and select Run. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit"

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\] and create a new key "Internet Explorer."

Third, create a subkey "Control Panel" under "Internet Explorer".

Fourth, create a DWORD value "History".

Now,right-click on "History" and select 'Modify'.

Finally, set the value data to “1” in the textbox provided and click on 'OK'.

Restrict viewing source in Internet Explorer (For Windows 98/Me).
