Show Status Bar in Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer in Windows XP SP-2.

The Status Bar facility available with Windows Explorer was removed in Windows XP SP2. To show Status Bar in the folder window, apply this registry setting.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD values “StatusBarOther” and “StatusBarWeb”, if these values do not exist.

Now, right-click and modify their value data to “1” which can enable Status Bar. However, if you want to get back to the original state, change the value to “0”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

Status Bar in Windows Explorer is enabled.

Status Bar in Windows Explorer is disabled.

Status Bar in Internet Explorer is enabled.

Status Bar in Internet Explorer is disabled.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type 'regedit'.

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\] and create a DWORD value 'StatusBarOther'.

Now, right click on the DWORD value 'StatusBarOther' and select 'Modify'.

Set the value data as '1' to enable Status bar in Windows Explorer and click 'OK'.

Create another DWORD value 'StatusBarWeb' under the key 'Main'.

Next, right click on the DWORD value 'StatusBarWeb' and select 'Modify'.

Finally, set the value data as '1' to enable Status bar in Internet Explorer and click 'OK'.
