Restricted access to printer properties (For All Users in Win 98/Me).

This setting can hide the “General” and “Details” tabs from a printer’s properties dialog box, which can be called from the right-click menu of a printer.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me
Upon right-clicking the printer configured on your system will show the “Properties” option, which in turn calls the printer’s properties dialog box. The properties dialog box of a printer is used to configure the printer port, resolution, paper size, fonts etc.

If this setting is enabled, the “General” and “Details” tabs are hidden in the printer’s properties dialog box, thus you can’t change specific settings for your printer. Since the “Details” tab allows configuring the printer settings, therefore there may be the need to remove the access to it for not experienced users.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a DWORD value “NoPrinterTabs”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “1” which can restrict access to specific printer properties. However, if you want to enable the hidden tabs back, change the value to “0” or delete the value.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

NOTE:
The restrictions will apply on all user accounts created on your system.
