Disable the Windows logo key on keyboard.

By using this tweak you can disables the Windows logo key that is found between the Ctrl and Alt keys on a Windows enhanced keyboard using Scan Code Mapper.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista
Windows include a new Scan Code Mapper, which provides a method that allows for mapping of scan codes provided by an input device. By using this tweak you can disables the Windows key that is found between the Ctrl and Alt keys on a Windows enhanced keyboard using Scan Code Mapper.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. You can create a Binary value “Scancode Map”, if this value does not exist.

Now, right-click and modify the value to “00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 5B E0 00 00 5C E0 00 00 00 00” to disable Windows key.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Disable the windows key.reg

The '.reg' file can disable the Windows logo key.

Enable the windows key (Default).reg

The '.reg' file can enable the Windows logo key.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout\],right-click in the open area to create a REG_BINARY Value with the name "NoUpdateCheck" in "Keyboard Layout" key.

Next, right-click on "Scancode Map" and click on 'Modify'.

Finally, enter the value "00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 5B E0 00 00 5C E0 00 00 00 00" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Hide Recycle Bin Properties option (For All Users).
