Hide My Documents from the Start menu (Current User)

This tweak is used to hide My Documents folder from the Start menu.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
My Documents stores letters, notes, charts, images, audios & videos etc.
It also hides the corresponding checkbox from the Start menu customization CPL.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. Now, create a DWORD value “NoStartMenuMyMusic”, if this value does not exist. Then right- click on “NoStartMenuMyMusic” and modify the value data with “1” to hide and “0” to show it. It is default value also.

After restart or logoff, changes take effect.

Hide the My Document From Start Menu.reg

The ".reg" file can hide My Documents folder from the Start menu.

Show the My Document in Start Menu(Default).reg

The ".reg" file can show My Documents folder from in the Start menu.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

'My Documents' is not visible in the 'Start' menu.

'My Documents' is visible in the 'Start' menu by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to the [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\] key, right-click on the blank area in the right pane and click on "New > DWORD Value" to create a new DWORD value with the name "NoSMMyDocs".

Third, right-click on the 'NoSMMyDocs' DWORD value and click on "Modify".

Finally, enter the value "1" in the text box and click on 'OK'.

Clear the computer names searched on a network.

Remove the “Favorites” menu item from the Start menu (For Current User).
