Disable the shortcut of “Outlook Express” email client in new Start menu (For All Users).

The Most Frequent List in new Start menu displays the application names that are regularly used. This setting can disable the shortcut of the email client “Outlook Express” from appearing in the list.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003
Windows displays the most frequently accessed programs, in left panel of the new Start menu called Most Frequent List. This list makes the program accessibility comfortable for users. But, with this setting you can disable the shortcut of the email client “Outlook Express” in Most Frequent List of Start menu.

“Msimn.exe” is the executable program for “Outlook Express”. The “Outlook Express” program is an email client that helps you better manage your email. It can be used to read and send email, and download news from newsgroups that interest you. Customization of various necessary options to control spams, add signatures etc., that match your requirements are some of the added features.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If any of the subkeys “Applications\msimn.exe” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a string value “NoStartPage”, if this value does not exists, and leave the data blank. This removes the shortcut to the email client.

However, if you want to get the email client shortcut back in Start menu, delete the subkey “msimn.exe”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

NOTE:
The restrictions will apply on all user accounts created on your system.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

“Outlook Express" is hidden from the Start menu.

“Outlook Express" is visible in the Start menu by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Applications\] and create a new key "Msimn.exe".

Now, create a String value as "NoStartPage".

Keep the value data blank to disable “Outlook Express” link to appear in the 'Start Menu'.

Clear the computer names searched on a network.

Category : Display > Start Menu

This setting allows you to clear the names of all computers that were passed as arguments while searching a computer on the network.

Remove the “Favorites” menu item from the Start menu (For Current User).

This setting can remove the “Favorites” menu item from the Start menu, if it is currently shown.
