Disable the shortcut of “MSN Explorer” browser in new Start menu (For Current User).

The Most Frequent List in new Start menu displays the application names that are regularly used. This setting can disable the shortcut of the browser “MSN Explorer” from appearing in the list.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows Vista
Windows displays the most frequently accessed programs, in left panel of the new Start menu called Most Frequent List. This list makes the program accessibility comfortable for users. But, with this setting you can disable the shortcut of the browser “MSN Explorer” in Most Frequent List of Start menu.

“Msn6.exe” is the program, which runs “MSN Explorer”. It is an all-in one program that can be used to browse the Web, read and send e-mail and instant messages, listen to music, play videos, and access to a variety of other MSN services.

For this, go to Start > Run menu, enter “regedit” and navigate to the registry path listed below. If any of the subkeys “Applications\msn6.exe” is not present, create it as explained below. Then, create a string value “NoStartPage”, if this value does not exists, and leave the data blank. This removes the shortcut to the browser.

However, if you want to get the browser shortcut back in Start menu, delete the subkey “msn6.exe”.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

“MSN Explorer" is hidden from the Start menu.

“MSN Explorer" is visible in the Start menu by default.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\] and create a new key "Applications".

Third, create a sub key as "Msn6.exe" under "Applications".

Fourth, create a String value as "NoStartPage".

Keep the value data blank to disable “MSN Explorer” to appear in the 'Start Menu'.

Clear the computer names searched on a network.

Remove the “Favorites” menu item from the Start menu (For Current User).
