Change default location of the “Start Menu” folder.

With this setting, you can change the default location/path of the "Start Menu" folder. Upon changing the path, all subsequent data will be saved at the new location by default.

Tweak for : Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Vista
All the entries displayed in the start menu make reference to the icons above the menu. Similarly, entry in the Programs refers to their respective option in the Programs submenu of the Start Menu.

This setting enables you to change the default location/path of the "Start Menu" folder.

For this, go to Start > Run, enter "regedit" and search the keys listed below. You can create an expandable string value "Start Menu" in "User Shell Folders" key, if this value does not exist.

Now, double-click the Value Name "Start Menu" under "Shell Folders" and "User Shell Folders" keys respectively, to define a new path in their Value Data fields for your "Start Menu" folder.

Refresh view of your computer for the changes to take effect.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

First, click the 'Start' button and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Second, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\], right-click on the Expandable String value "Start Menu" and click on "Modify".

Finally set a user defined value data and click 'OK'.

Fourth, go to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\], right-click on the String value "Start Menu" and click on "Modify".

Again set a user defined value data to set a new location of Start menu folder and click 'OK'.

Clear the computer names searched on a network.

This setting allows you to clear the names of all computers that were passed as arguments while searching a computer on the network.

Remove the “Favorites” menu item from the Start menu (For Current User).

Category : Display > Start Menu

This setting can remove the “Favorites” menu item from the Start menu, if it is currently shown.

Remove the “Favorites” menu item from the Start menu (For All Users).

This setting can remove the “Favorites” menu item from the Start menu, if it is currently shown.

Clear the recently accessed documents list.

Category : Display > Start Menu

This setting enables you to delete the documents in "Recent Documents" folder.

Clear history of recently accessed entries on logoff.

Category : Display > Start Menu

This setting enables you to clear the recently accessed documents list on Start Menu as well as the Internet Explorer URL history, when you log off your system.
