Change the order of desktop icons My Computer and My Documents.

The user can decide, if My Documents or My Computer should appear first on the desktop.

Tweak for : Windows XP, Windows 2003
This setting enables you to choose the order of the icons on Desktop. Either of the icons My Documents or My Computer will appear first on the desktop.

For this go to “Start > Run” and enter “regedit” and search the key listed below. Change the DWORD value “SortOrderIndex” to “54” if you want My Computer to be displayed first and to “48” if My Documents should be displayed first in the list.

The changes take effect after a restart or logoff.

The '.reg' file can change the order of 'My Document and My Computer' according to the user.

The '.reg' file can change the order of 'My Document and My Computer' as per default order list.

Apply registry settings according below given steps of screenshots with related changes.

First, click the 'Start' button, and select 'Run'. In the resulting dialog box, type "regedit".

Go to [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}\] ,right-click on DWORD value "SortOrderIndex" and click on 'Modify'.

Enter the value "48" or "54" to show the icon order of your choice and click on 'OK'.

Showing Windows Version on the Desktop (For Windows 98/Me).

Enabling this option will show the Version information of Windows on the desktop and disabling the option will hide this information from desktop.

Do not save changed icon position on desktop (For All Users)

Users can change the positions of icons and place them anywhere on the desktop. Windows saves such settings even when the user logs off or restarts the system. This setting can let you disable such feature.

This setting enables you to remove the menu item “Active Desktop” from Settings in the Start menu.

Prevent changes to “Active Desktop” settings.
